she loves her island so much
that she had its name
tattooed on her skin

by the way,
do you know that the word TATTOO
comes from the tahitian word TATAU ?

Genèse Maohi
I

Ripo

a,
tout le temps,
un sourire silencieux au visage

Ripo sait tout faire
il sait réparer une pirogue, un bateau,
il fait également des colliers de coquillage

Moments

Sunday in Raivavae

we had just come out of church
Ladies and young girls
were wearing beautiful dresses, hats, pearls and jewelry

this young girl had something different:
she had braided colorfull ribbons in her hair

Moments

they were waiting for the rocks to be hot enough to get the polynesian earth oven going
I didn't want to interrupt their silent chat
everything was so quiet and peaceful around them

A pause for the trekkers

on the fabulous

"Motu piscines"

and the most beautiful beaches in Polynesia

I am enjoying it all to the most

a tahitian meal is prepared on the beach in the shade

beautiful fish freshly caught

we are all enjoying the meal

the shade of the motu forest is nice after a day spent in the lagoon and under the sun

it is time to go home now

and say good bye to this awesome place

if you stay in one of the family run small hotels on Raivavae, they will organize this outing for you !!!

Raivavae

an easy trekking to start with...

the day was young

when our guide showed up

we were ready for the first trek

on the way up, a pause to listen to the guide

and admire

and meditate

in some places we had to use the rope

encountering the footsteps of an ancient heroe left in the rock

seeking shelter from the pouring rain

walking through a place of vestiges of the past maohi culture and religion

at home, as the night is setting, a beautiful encounter with a little island angel...
